Climate and Weather Learning Experiences

Each of the activities below are an opportunity for you to discover how weather and climate create observable change over different time scales.

Outdoor Safety

As you head outside to explore, be sure to have safety in mind! Are you dressed appropriately for the weather? How about sunscreen, a hat, raincoat, or bug spray? Be sure you are with an adult, or they know where you are. Keep to areas you or someone you are with are familiar with. Be aware of your surroundings. There is so much to see and explore right outside your door - have fun, be curious, and be safe!

Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

EcologyOnline’s Climate and Weather Module incorporates the Next Generation Science Standards “Science and Engineering Practices” as students explore, engage and attempt to make sense of outdoor phenomena. These practices reflect what scientists use to investigate the world, and are skills and knowledge sets that help students internalize science learning. As students engage in learning about weather and climate, they will be engaging in a full range of cognitive, social, and physical practices that scientific inquiry requires.
